Hi, I'm Harlan Sorrell. I am a home-based hobby breeder dedicated to bringing healthy, loving, and high-quality Bernese Mountain Dogs and Shiba Inu into the homes and hearts of their forever families. I love my dogs and am passionate about raising my puppies to be the best family companions.
My experience with Bernese Mountain Dogs goes back to around the year 2000, when I first learned of this breed and purchased two adorable puppies. I soon fell in love with Bernese Mountain Dogs! My first litter of 12 puppies was born in 2003. Since then, I have been constantly striving to bring my breeding program to the highest standards. One of my original sires, Bethoven, was an import from Slovac Republic, a son of the famous champion "Joker," whose bloodlines were greatly sought after.
My present female breeder, Betty, is a granddaughter of Bethoven. She has had genetic testing and is free and clear of all issues, including Von Willebrand Disease, Types 1 & 2, and Degenerative Myelopathy SOD1A & SOD1B. Betty has an OFA rating of "good" on her hips and "normal" on her elbows.
My young male, Fabio, who turned three years old on December 3, 2023, was imported from Belarus in April 2021. He comes from several generations of genetically tested and proven champion bloodlines. I look forward to high-quality litters in the future from matings between him and my girl.
My experience raising Shiba Inu began in 2017. Although their personalities are quite different than the Bernese Mountain Dogs, I love them each one for
who they are.
We enjoy a rural country lifestyle on nine acres in the Ozark foothills of southern Missouri near the Arkansas border. I offer shipping to puppy buyers through a local company called Ozark Jet-a-Pet. Ground shipping is also available, and I sometimes meet buyers halfway who live in neighboring states. Buyers are also welcome to come pick up their puppies in person and see all my beautiful breeders at Shady Oak Bernese and Shiba Inu.
My puppies come fully up-to-date on vaccinations and de-wormings, will be vet-checked and accompanied by a health certificate from my veterinarian, a complete medical record, and a one-year health guarantee from me against congenital diseases.
